Sony has confirmed that some personal information has been compromised in the recent PSN intrusion. However, they haven’t actually specified what information was compromised…no word on if credit card info has been pilfered, although they believe that everything ranging from address to email address to PSN ID to (possibly) your purchase history has been taken. For now, we still don’t have any definite word on whether your financial information attatched to your PSN account is safe. Any theories on why it’s taking Sony so long to figure this out?

Suddenly, the Red Ring of Death doesn’t seem so bad after all…
If I owned a PS3 I would be infuriated.
And it’s probably not taking them so long to come up with reasons, as it is their lawyers to come up with a way of wording what they say to avoid the most lawsuits. haha.
I’m not really all that upset about the break-in itself…these things happen, you know? While I’m a little pissed about things like my address, email, etc being out there, that isn’t too big of a deal either…these things happen, you know? While it DEFINITELY shouldn’t have happend, I’m honestly not even all that pissed about my credit card number being out there…a five minute phone call canceled it, so it isn’t a big deal. These things happen, you know?
What I AM pissed about is that our passwords and credit card numbers weren’t hashed…they were stored in plain text -_-;; THAT’S what people should be pissed about.
Wow, didn’t know about the plain-text docs….interesting to see how they defend that.
Clarification: personal info was stored in plain text, but credit card info was stored in a seperate, encrypted table…so at least there’s that.
