In the wake of Cory Ledesma’s comments regarding used video games, the Internet has been ablaze with talk on the subject. Kotaku, Ars Technica, Penny Arcade…if a website even remotely deals with gaming, they have at least one article up stating their opinion.
Here’s mine.
This is the first entry in a new feature here on Living With a Nerd: The Wednesday Rant. Each week, we will present a rant on a different topic (and, if things go as planned, sometimes from different authors!) This week’s entry is a rant by myself about DLC practices.

Just like in movies, music can play a huge role in establishing atmosphere and the general “feel” of a video game. Highly talented people laboriously craft music to fit a game’s atmosphere…however, sometimes external music sources are the way to go.

At the age of 26, I’ve been gaming for about 22 years. Why have I continued playing video games on an almost daily basis…nonstop? Why have any of us played video games for so long?
While not quite as good as Alien Swarm, Greed: Black Border is still a fun game reminiscent of the Crusader series.
We have already discussed whether or not a good story is necessary for a game to be considered “good”, and Limbo adds another hash mark to the “no” column. It takes minimalism in gaming beyond what you thought possible.
On June 29th, 2000, things would never be the same (and I would lose a girlfriend over a videogame.) Ten years ago today, Diablo II was unleashed upon the gaming world. Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?
