A dereliction of duty

Long have entire worlds and stories swirled within the confines of my mind. In other words, I daydream a lot.
I have often tried writing stories, although my writing skills (or lack thereof) have consistently failed me. My writings either come out as arrogant, or incomprehensible. The creative output required by my brain has been satiated through production of “The Transient Unknown”, however I feel another need beginning to brew. Long have I wanted to create a story, either one of a fantastically inventive world or that of a truly terrifying one. I believe I would be better served at creating the terrifying one, as creating something fantastic and strange is, in my opinion, much easier than creating something that is truly scary.
People generally agree on things that are odd. True, the depth of this oddity tends to be a point of contention, but the fact that it is odd still remains universal. Creating something that is truly scary, however…now that is a challenge. Some people are scared by actors in rubber suits…for others, seeing the dead fall out of walls, clawing at people numbly is enough to invoke chills. For others still, it requires something beyond their capacity to envision.
There are stories and images that have floated around in my head for years. Due to my complete lack of artistic talent, the images will remain in my head until some form of technology is devised that can directly transmit images seen in the Mind’s Eye and transfer them to a computer. The stories are leaning heavily against a door, whose brace is beginning to splinter. My inability to focus on something for an extended period of time, as well as my constantly changing mind in terms of approach, make writing these stories down a difficult task indeed.
One day, in the near future, I hope to put some of these stories to paper. If I am unable to do so, I hope to at least share my visions through music, a medium which translates my thoughts into reality very accurately. In the words of Holley Chant: ” I have such wonderful, wonderful things… to show you.”
And in this cornah…

I have now had the HTC Ozone for 72 hours, and have concluded that it is good. I’m currently writing this post from the phone, using a great Wordpress plugin called WPhone.
There are a couple of reservations I have about the Ozone, such as its non-standard miniUSB connection, the quality of the camera, and the volume of the ringer…but overall, it’s a fantastic piece of kit for those that need access on the go. Internet connectivity works great, and within 5 minutes of turning it on for the first time, I had already synced my Hotmail and Living With a Nerd email accounts. It uses the plain Windows Mobile 6.1 interface without any skins such as TouchFLO, but because of the speed of the processor and the amount of RAM, it zips along at a very brisk pace. I haven’t encountered any slowdowns whatsoever, and it glides effortlessly between screens and programs. I know some people have a major problem with Windows Mobile, but personally I like it.
If you are in the market for a smartphone that’s great for messaging, email, and a small-to-medium amount of Internet Browsing, the HTC Ozone is a good choice. I should have a detailed, full-length review up in the form of an article on the Living With a Nerd mainsite sometime this week. Keep your eyes peeled.
