30 years later: Cannibal Holocaust

Considering we are a PG-13 website, this is the only picture from the film I feel comfortable posting. I'm not kidding.

30 years ago, Cannibal Holocaust was unleashed upon the world.  It went on to become one of the most controversial movies ever…no small feat, considering it came from the same country that gave us everything from Salo to Suspiria.  Hit the read more link for a look back at this blood-soaked classic.

Note: There are some story spoilers (not that you’d watch Cannibal Holocaust for the story, ha!)

The ATI name is no more

According to Tech Report, AMD has decided to drop the ATI brand name.  The Radeon and Firepro series cards will still retain those labels, however they will be called the AMD Radeon and Firepro, as opposed to ATI Radeon and Firepro.

We now have a torrent uploaded on The Pirate Bay that includes all of our publicly released music so far:

  • The Transient Unknown (a spacey ambient project.  Six tracks completed.)
  • Lost on the Way to the Laundry (a chilled-out album to nod your head to.  Two tracks completed.)
  • Implied Reality (our drone project.  Four tracks completed.)

It’s only 45 megs, so it shouldn’t take you too long to download.  Our music is and always will be available completely free…we hope you enjoy it!  Please be sure to listen to our tracks with headphones, as that’s what they’ve been mixed for :)   You can also listen to and download our tracks from Last.FM.

Here’s mine.

Awesome Mass Effect rifle modeled in real life

The same guy responsible for the world’s greatest Portal gun replica has brought the iconic Mass Effect M8 rifle into the real world.  This guy and Ben Heck really need to get together and design a project…it would be amazing.

Wednesday Rant: DLC

This is the first entry in a new feature here on Living With a Nerd:  The Wednesday Rant.  Each week, we will present a rant on a different topic (and, if things go as planned, sometimes from different authors!)  This week’s entry is a rant by myself about DLC practices.

Buying used games cheats publishers

According to Cory Ledesma of THQ, buying games used cheats the publisher out of money.  While I think “cheating” is a bit strong, the man’s point is true.  However, I find it interesting that his theory only applies to video games for him, and not cars…or books…or movies…or just about any other product.

It seems that the recent 2.09 firmware update to one of Samsung’s line of Blu-Ray players (specifically the BD-PX600 model) breaks the ability to watch Universal and Warner Bros. movies.  Even worse, some people are having trouble downgrading to a previous firmware version, and are stuck waiting until the next update.  Ain’t progress grand?
