More scary clouds

As previously shown, the view from my office window is perfect for taking pictures when a crazy storm rolls through.  Although not as powerful as the storms we had last weekend, there was a thunderstorm that rolled through yesterday that was quite formidable.  This picture was taken about 20 seconds before rain started falling with reckless abandon.

Limbo

We have already discussed whether or not a good story is necessary for a game to be considered “good”, and Limbo adds another hash mark to the “no” column.  It takes minimalism in gaming beyond what you thought possible.

Traffic numbers

Check that out!  The past 7 months have shown explosive growth in our traffic numbers…it looks like we just might break past the 50,000 mark for the year.  Next goal is to increase the number of page loads per visitor.  Help us make this happen…tell your friends to visit Living With a Nerd!  Thanks for making our little corner of the web just a bit bigger :-)

As time goes by

Whew!  After a whirlwind of nearly two weeks, things are returning to “normal” (albeit a newlywed version of normal, lol).  Both the wedding and the honeymoon went REALLY, REALLY well.  We saw a lot of family, ate a lot of great food, and had a ton of fun staying in a suite at a Hilton in Arlington.  I’m still collecting photos from the myriad of cameras that were present, and Brittnie has plans for a massive photo album… should be a fun project :-)

As for Living With a Nerd, expect things to return to normal starting tomorrow.  We have a TON of reviews on tap, including reviews for Limbo, Greed Black Border, Super Mario Galaxy 2, the Nook, Death Note, Lo, Despicable Me, Inception, and more.  We are also in the planning stages for putting together a podcast, the content of which will be done by Brittnie.  The next few weeks will be an exciting time :-)

I now pronounce you Husband and Wife

If all goes as planned, this post should appear at 12:00 Noon Eastern Time, just as our wedding ceremony is getting underway.  We wanted to share a bit of the experience with all of you, so if you click the ‘read more’ link, you will be able to read our wedding ceremony in its (short) entirety.  Just picture us looking snazzy with weepy relatives staring at us, and it will be like you’re right there!  Our great friend Ryan is officiating the ceremony, and I’d like to give a big thanks to him and all of our family and friends for their immense help in making this day as awesome as possible.  A very special thanks to our friend Mary for allowing us the use of her home for this great occasion.

T-minus 47 hours

We are now a mere 47 hours away from exchanging our Dr. Seuss-inspired vows (it’s going to be super rad).  Our friend Ryan is officiating the ceremony, and he did a bang-up job of putting together a short ceremony that matches our personalities.    I’m still amazed at how smoothly things have been coming together.  The only stuff left is non-freakout stuff…all the big things are taken care of, paid for, and ready to go.

I’m going to schedule a post to show up at the same time as the wedding (approx. 12 PM Eastern, this coming Saturday) so you can read along and picture us wearing expensive clothes.  Our honeymoon (which will play out locally here in Washington DC) will be fairly well documented, so there will be a ton of pictures and stories to tell when we get back.

Four days left

I keep a countdown timer gadget on my secondary monitor, which is currently counting down the time until our wedding.  I remember when I first set it up, it said that there were 154 days left.  Now?  It says only four days.  There was apparently a LOT of beer left over from Brittnie’s Uncle’s wedding, so they are graciously donating a lot of that to us.  Other people are donating food items, other drinks, utensils, and lord knows what else.  I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone that has been helping us out (not the least of which our friend who is graciously allowing us to use her home for the ceremony).  We really appreciate it, and couldn’t have done this without you.

A hint for anyone planning on getting married: keep it as simple as you possibly can.  We aren’t doing anything complicated and it’s still complicated :P

Peter Weller joines Dexter

Slashfilm is reporting that Peter Weller (star of Robocop, Screamers, and many other great films) will be joining the cast of Dexter for the fifth season.  Between the fourth season cliffhanger ending and all the new talent, Season 5 is gearing up to be insane.

More Tron Legacy stills

Slashfilm has a new batch of stills from the upcoming Tron Legacy.  I gotta admit, this thing looks like it’s going to be insane.  Beyond the fantastic retro-yet-modern visuals, Daft Punk’s soundtrack sounds like it will be equally amazing.  This is one remake that I am honestly excited for.  If you haven’t seen any of the trailers, I very highly recommend checking them out.
